The Glass Packaging Institute, GPI awarded Vitro Packaging, US subsidiary of Vitro, 4 of the 12 yearly Clear Choice Awards announced through its virtual award ceremony on its web page. This year, the awards were given in four categories: alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, food and cosmetics. Vitro“s winning products were: Stranahan“s Colorado Whiskey, Cold Spring Water, Cheerwine & Diet Cheerwine; and Vitality by Liiv Botanicals. Commenting on these latest awards, Hugo Lara, CEO Vitro, stated: In these times of great challenges we continue to fulfil our commitment to supply quality products and services in an uninterrupted fashion to our broad and diversified client base. That has involved our not slowing innovation efforts and, for that reason, we can say that this century old company enjoys strong brand awareness, world class products and an enviable market position in those marketplaces where we do business. During the web broadcast where the winners were announced, the award winning products were shown which will also be exhibited at the Pack Expo in Las Vegas 5-7 October and at the World Food Expo in Chicago from 28-31 October 2009. Beginning in 1989, the Clear Choice Awards is the only programme that acknowledges manufacturers of consumer products that package their products in glass. The variables that are taken into consideration for the awards are: aesthetics, creativity, shape, functionality and attractiveness for the marketplace. The Glass Packaging Institute represents the glass container industry in the US. Through this body the glass container producers communicate in one joint voice to determine the standards for the industry and promote efficient environmental policies while developing the professionals in the packaging industry.
