Thanks to its experience with icon construction projects, Vitro Cristalglass, the European subsidiary of Mexican Vitro SA de CV, was chosen to supply nearly 15,000 square meters of double-glazing for the expansion of Valencia“s exhibition center, the largest in Spain. Vitro Cristalglass will supply its double-glazed Isolar Solarlux Silver and Multipact glass for the expansion of Valencia“s International Exhibition Center. Industrias Iberia, S.A., a company with a track record in glass facades for important architectural projects, will be responsible for the installation. “It“s an honor for all of us who work at Vitro Cristalglass to be awarded this important project; it means that we“ve fulfilled and exceeded the quality and service requirements that our clients demand of us,” said Isaac Prado, Vitro Cristalglass“ Comercial-Tecnico and Marketing Director. The project focuses on expanding the exhibition center by up to 260,000 square meters, providing it with modern and versatile pavilions, while at the same time making it possible to maintain and improve the quality of the services. The extension and modernization project will allow the exhibition center to remain the national leader. The Valencia Regional Government and Valencia City Council are the main supporters of the expansion of the center, which involves an investment of EUR 300 million. The goal is to acquire 230,000 square meters of additional exhibition space, making the Valencia exhibition center the fourth largest in the world and the biggest in Spain. President of the center, Alberto Catal, expects to host 65 exhibitions when the expansion is completed in 2004. This will result in additional revenue of approximately EUR 84 million per year. Vitro Cristalglass is Spain“s leading fabricator, distributor and marketer of architectural and construction flat glass products and, through its Vitro Chaves subsidiary, is a leader in Portugal. The company has almost 550 employees and recorded sales of approximately USD 90 million in 2002. Vitro Cristalglass has five facilities in Spain: three flat glass production facilities in Camponaraya, Villadecanes (Leon province) and Fuenlabrada (Madrid province); and two distribution facilities in La Coru-a and Valencia.
