After opening its doors in Owatonna, Minnesota on 23 April 1970 with 20 customer service-focused employees as a local Midwest glass fabricator, Viracon, the US“ leading architectural glass fabricator, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Over the years, the company has partnered with more 15,000 architects and glazing contractors to supply more than 700 million square feet of glass to more than 140,000 buildings. Carolyn VonRuden, who joined the company“s customer service staff in 1970, recalls, We started out as a family-type atmosphere and that feeling still exists 40 years later. But it“s our customers that make working at Viracon special. We still work with many of the same companies we did 40 years ago, and we celebrate their successes like they were our own. It“s like they are our extended family. Key component in the company“s success is, and has always been, innovation, offering clients tailor-made glass solutions with a focus on high performance coated glass. Other fabrication capabilities at Viracon include silk-screen designs and laminated glass technologies for safety, hurricane and blast applications. The company has also added new manufacturing facilities in Statesboro, Georgia and St. George, Utah to expand its market capacity. Viracon“s 40 years of success was created by a dedicated team of employees, block and tackling every day to serve the needs of our customers, says Viracon founder and current board member James L. Martineau.
