German porcelain manufacturer Villeroy & Boch AG (V&B) recently said it expects to see a 4% rise in sales and operating earnings in 2001, although it is not counting on a revival in German consumption. V&B had previously forecast a 6% increase in revenue for 2001 at a press conference in April this year. V&B posted declining EBT in the first half of 2001, due to the reorganisation of the US tile activity, despite a sales increase of 6.6%. EBIT fell to EUR 20.2million (20.4million). V&B only saw an increase in operating profit in the bathroom and kitchen division in the first half of 2001, which rose to EUR 16.4m (+3.8%).
