The Viet-Nhat (Vietnam-Japan) Float Glass Company has seen its stocks grow to more than 9 million sq.m of glass, worth in excess of VND 170 billion (USD 10.7 million). The firm, which is based in the northern province of Bac Ninh“s Que Vo Industrial Zone, blames the situation on strong competition in the industry, with a large number of domestic glass producers and cheap imported glass, while the steep rise of input costs has prevented the firm from cutting prices. The company“s production costs rose by 5% after price of fuel oil rose from VND 3,000 to VND 4,700 a litre, said deputy director Nguyen Duc Tam.
