Vidrala net profit up 28% in year to September 2007

Spanish container glass manufacturer Vidrala SA posted net profit of EUR 27.1 million (USD 38.9 million) for the January to September 2007 period on 26 October 2007, up 28.1% year-on-year. Sales were EUR 269.1 million (USD 385.8 million), up 14.7% while earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) were EUR 41.5 million (USD 59.5 million), up 29.2% due to the incorporation of new production capacity and streamlining of operating procedures in the plants. Production costs remained stable. The results do not include Belgian sector company La Manufacture du Verre, which Vidrala bought for more than EUR 27 million (USD 38.7 million) on 4 September 2007. La Manufacture du Verre has an annual output of more than 135,000 tonnes of glass and turnover of EUR 46 million (USD 66 million) in the last year. The company is expected to contribute EUR 16.5 million (USD 23.7 million) to Vidrala“s annual turnover.
