Spanish container glass manufacturing company Vidrala reported on 27 October 2008 a EUR 32.7 million (USD 41 million) net profit for January to September 2008, up 20.9% year-on-year. Sales in the period rose by 14.9% to EUR 309.3 million. Operating profit went up by 20.5% to EUR 50.1 million. The return on sales (ROS), in turn, rose by 75 basis points to 16.2% Some 23% of sales came from France, Italy contributed 12%, and Portugal 7% of the total. Spain, however, remains Vidrala“s main market, with 54% of all sales. Vidrala registered a EUR 19.9 million net profit for the 1H 2008, up 11.2% year-on-year. Sales stood at EUR 210.2 million in the first six months of 2008, up from EUR 181.5 million a year earlier.
