Viag, the German electricity business which is in the process of merging with rival Veba, has appointed Lehman Brothers to handle the sale of its international glass company. Gerresheimer Glas is one of a number of non-core businesses that are likely to be sold by the merging companies. People close to the situation suggest that the German office of Lehman Brothers has put a value of more than Euros 500 million (US$ 534 million) on the company. Other assets which are also likely to be disposed of include MEML Silicon Wafers out of Veba and a clutch of Viag interests.
