Vetropack Nemsova, s.r.o., the largest Slovak packing glass producer, increased half-year sales over 10% year-on-year to SKK 566 million. The firm sold 173 million units of glass packaging, up over 20% on the year-ago period, said Ota Horak for the company. Half of the firm“s output was exported, mainly to neighboring markets. The company launched production from a reconstructed melting furnace on 12 October 2004, thus completeing the first part of its modernization. In spring 2005 a new furnace should be built, increasing annual output to 150,000 tonnes. The total costs for the upgrades are expected to be SKK 1.5 billion. The company belongs to Vetropack Holding AG (VH), based in St-Prex, Switzerland. Vetropack Nemsova is currently carrying out upgrades in order to reach the technological level of other glassmakers in the VH group. Vetropack Nemsova has a workforce of more than five hundred.
