Vetropack Moravia Glass (VMG), Czech producer of glass packaging, saw its sales drop by 2.9% year-on-year to CZK 344 billion in January-September, thus continuing with the moderate year-on-year decrease in sales, claimed VMG spokeswoman Nada Dolejsova. The company expects its sales to rise in the last weeks of the year, so the full-year result will be higher than last year“s CZK 823billion, Dolejsova added. VMG, which controls some 50% of the Czech market, in January-September raised the output by 6.7 million units of glass packaging to 259.7 million, but exports went down by 4.1% year on year to 294.2 million units. Last year, Vetropack“s output grew by 11.4% year on year to 721.7 million units. VMG Kyjov is a subsidiary of Swiss company Vetropack Holding AG, Europe“s sixth largest producer of glass packaging, with glassworks in Switzerland, Austria, Croatia and the Czech Republic.
