30 July 1998: Vertex Litomysl increased its turnover in the first half of this year by 36% year-on-year to Kcs 1.44 billion. According to spokesman Pavel Kusy, Vertex managed to increase gross profit by 44% to 177 million crowns and work productivity by more than 36%. The average wage for workers in Vertex for the first half of the year was nearly Kcs 17,000. The company exported about 85% of its output during this period. The largest increase in sales was in grating and wallpaper, and the main territories for exports were Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Austria. In the first half of the year, Vertex invested Kcs 489 million. A chunky sum of this went to build new facilities for making glass fibres. Vertex also successfully completed an audit and extended the validity of a certificate for ISO 9002 standards. French Vetrotex Saint Gobain should become Vertex“s majority owner after approval from the EU“s anti-monopoly office.
