20 May 1999: Receivers at Belgium“s bankrupt bottle manufacturer Verlipack have given UK-Swedish packaging group PLM a few more days to consider an offer to acquire the units at Ghlin and Jumet. According to a recent report, the sites, which employ 400, are continuing to operate at a slow pace. The commercial court at Mons is due to rule on whether operations should continue under trusteeship. The Walloon authorities said no contact had been made with PLM or with another unknown candidate believed to have expressed interest in the plants.
