The Latvian company, Valmiera Glassfibre said that January gross sales came to 1.330 million lats (US$ 2.16 million), a 23% rise year-on-year. Its full-year 2001 gross sales target is 15.1 million lats (US$ 24.50 million). Valmiera“s 2000 gross sales came to 14.66 million lats, up 4.4% from 13.4 million lats in 1999. Valmiera, 49% owned by the German company Glasseiden GmbH, expects 2000 net profit of only 60,000 lats versus 536,000 lats in 1999 due to the euro“s weakness.
