TXU Energy in Texas has requested permission to raise electricity prices as a result of rises in natural gas prices. The cost of gas is an important factor in electricity generation. TXU Energy has followed the lead of other energy suppliers in the state and filed a request with the Public Utility Commission of Texas to raise the company“s electricity prices for North Texas customers, in order to take account of the higher market price of gas. The Commission has 45 days to review and approve the company“s request.
