Hewlett Packard will manage the IT infrastructure of Uralita Group throughout Europe over the next five years for EUR 22 million, the Spanish building materials supplier said on 13 December 2004. The contract includes the transfer of Uralita personnel who are presently employed in the services which Hewlett Packard will run. The move will allow Uralita Group to save EUR 3.5 million in technological investments and reduce management costs by 25% during the five year contract. Hewlett Packard has been tasked with improving the service to Uralita users; renewing, consolidating and standardizing the group“s equipment; and implementing a process to guarantee that any system contingency will be dealt with inside an hour. In addition, the US information technology company with have to set up a single international help center for the 3,500 users, who, scattered across 19 countries and 97 centers, will be able to count on assistance in eight languages.
