In February 2003, soda ash production was down by 16% or 8,590 tons compared with February 2002, to 45,550 tons (100%, without potash), according to Ukrainian state statistics. In February 2003, the Crimean soda plant reduced soda ash production by 15% compared with February 2002, to 34,000 tons. The Lysychanska soda also reduced production by 18% compared with February 2002, to 11,550 tons. In January-February 2003, production of soda ash decreased by 15% or 17,580 tons compared with January-February 2002, to 98,780 tons. In January production of soda ash decreased by 11% or 6,400 tons compared with January 2002, to 53,100 tons. In 2002, soda ash production went up by 4% or 28,500 tons compared with 2001, to 678,400 tons.
