The State Statistics Committee in Ukraine disclosed that the country“s industrial output rose by 12.0% in October 2001 compared with October 2000. Industrial output for the month rose by 12.2% in comparison with September. In the January-October period, industrial output increased 16.1%. The largest increase of industrial output in this period was registered in coke and petroleum products production – by 57.1%, timber and timber articles output – by 25.9%, machine building – 21.7%, pulp and paper industry, printing and publication – by 20.5%, food industry – 19.8% and in the light industry – by 15.9%. As the “Ukrainian News“ earlier reported, in August industrial output increased 13.6% compared to September 2000, while in the January-August period it rose by 16.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2000. In 2000, industrial output rose 12.9%.
