In the course of a press conference this year, Tyrolit Vincent, part of the Tyrolit Group (Swarovski Holding), released data referring to the market sector concerning diamond cutting tools for the stone, building, optical, mechanical and glass sectors. “Domestic sales for diamond tools in 2000 reached ITL 450 billion, with an average increase of 7% on sales for 1999. These positive results were obtained thanks to an improved performance in the building utensils division, which showed an increase of 8% at ITL 100 billion, and for the optical, mechanical and glass divisions, with increases of 10% at about ITL 115 billion. A more modest growth was seen in the stone sector at +3-4% at ITL 230 billion,” said Mr. Alfonso Marra, managing director of Tyrolit Vincent, and president of Assodiamante, an Italian association for diamond tool companies. The Tyrolit Group, which is controlled completely by the Swarovski Group, a worldwide leader in the production and distribution of tools for precision mechanics, metal, glass, optical, natural stone, ceramic, building and trade, declared sales for the year 2000 of ITL 903 billion, with a 15.3% growth with respect to sales of ITL 783 billion for 1999. The consolidated sales of the Austrian Tyrolit Group include sales of Tyrolit Vincent, Thiene, Vicenza, Italy, of ITL 132 billion, up by 20% with respect to those of 1999. These sales are split into various divisions: ITL 89 billion for stone and ceramic, glass and optical; ITL 22.5 billion for precision mechanics and metal; and ITL 20.5 billion for building and trade. Tyrolit Vincent employs 282 people in Italy, and has four production units for glass, respectively in Thiene, Veggiano and Pianezza, in Italy, and in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to the company, Tyrolit Vincent has been the worldwide leader of the Dimensional Stone & Glass Division (Ceramic and Stone, Glass and Optical) since 1997. The company controls all the activities of the Tyrolit Group, and has facilities in Italy, Austria, Brazil, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates, with commercial offices in more than 60 countries in the world. As far as worldwide sales in the Dimensional Stone & Glass Division are concerned, these totalled ITL 137 billion, showing an important development, with a growth trend of 38%. The commitment and the resources dedicated to reaching the highest quality standards, using materials and processes of environmental protection, have allowed Tyrolit Vincent to obtain the following certifications in the past: EN ISO 9002 (1997), EN ISO 9001 (1998), EN ISO 14001(1999). Tyrolit Vincent“s goal for the year 2001 is that of exploiting all the advantages offered by the implementation of SIX SIGMA, a system for the control of management procedures, which is presently available to very few companies worldwide. SIX SIGMA is based on a statistic analysis, which is applied to the company procedures, and involves all the key processes: production, quality, marketing, administration and controlling. The new inaugurated site in Dubai, UAE, is, as the company says, a “natural evolution of Tyrolit Vincent“s worldwide local strategy.” Located in an industrial area with more than 1000 other international companies, at the centre of the Middle Eastern market (Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Yemen and all the Arabic countries), Dubai will allow Tyrolit Vincent to develop into a rich and strongly expanding market. Tyrolit works on a local basis, using its knowledge of the specific characteristics of each country, in order to offer the best technical support and assistance in the shortest time possible.
