UK firm Toughglass, part of the Coulter Group, has signed a major deal with Italian company Curvet to supply curved glass products. As part of the UK 2 million agreement, Curvet has set up Curvet Ireland, a new company which will develop the business relationship with Toughglass with a view to an eventual joint venture operation. Curvet Ireland will be based in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, and will combine curved glass manufacturing technology developed by Toughglass with the Italian company“s production experience and marketing network. The new Northern Ireland operation will supply customers across Europe. “It will position Toughglass for sustained growth in European markets and could, in time, lead to additional employment opportunities here at Kilkeel,” Coulter Group chairman Gordon Coulter said of the deal. Toughglass is currently implementing a UK 9 million expansion involving a 6,500 square metre state-of-the-art curved glass manufacturing plant at Kilkeel.
