In August this year electronics giant Toshiba said it is to cut 18,800 jobs – almost 10% of its workforce. The Japanese-owned firm also expects to lose 664 million this year compared to previously forecast profits of 346 million. No job losses are expected at British plants in Plymouth, Cambridge, Bristol and Surrey. Several Toshiba competitors have already cut back to reflect decreasing demand for products.
