Construction started recently on the 400,000 tonnes/year soda ash expansion project in Henan Xinyang Tongbai Anpeng Soda Mine. On completion of the year-long, CNY 600 million scheme, capacity will reach of the 650,000 tonnes/year and Anpeng Soda Mine will become the biggest natural soda chemical base in China. Current capacity at the mine, established in 1998, is 250,000 tonnes/year of low-salt heavy soda ash. The expansion project will make considerable improvements in recovery, processing and environmental protection, it was reported. Compared with the existing unit, process flow will be shortened by a quarter, energy consumption will be cut by 20%, DCS automatic control technology will be used, the number of operators will be cut by 60%, the discharge of waste in the form of water, gas and residues will be effectively controlled and the dust-removal rate will reach 99.5%.
