Tiffany & Co. the New York-based retailer of jewelry, silver, china, crystal, corporate gifts and other luxury items has been awarded damages of USD 573,818.64 from the owners of the Web site www.finest4less.com that sold counterfeit Tiffany & Co. merchandise. Hon. Victor Marrero issued the order finding the defendants liable on 11 September 2003, in the US District Court, Southern District of New York. Tiffany has an active campaign to prevent counterfeiting and trademark infringement. The company maintains that the Tiffany & Co. name is a symbol of the finest design and highest quality and as such it is committed to upholding its reputation and protecting its loyal customer base from duplicity.
