Three companies will compete for the Czech state“s majority stake in glassmaker Zeleznobrodske sklo (ZBS), according to press reports. One of the bidders is reported to be Bizutera, a joint venture of the Preciosa, Ornela, and Bizuterie Ceska mincovna production companies. Jablonex, a Czech jewellery maker reputed to have been a hot candidate for the ZBS stake, is apparently no longer interested. The National Property Fund (FNM) owns 89.36 % of ZBS. Finance Minister Pavel Mertlik is to release the results of the tender by September 30, 2000. According to the terms set by the FNM, the price must be no lower than Kc 240 million, and the winner must present a quality business plan. ZBS employs 1,183 people.
