US-based ThermoView Industries, Inc., which designs, manufactures, markets and installs custom vinyl replacement windows and other home improvement products, has announced a number of product improvements which are planned for its ThermoView 6000 series of custom vinyl replacement windows. Production of the ThermoView 6000 window series is being transferred to a new 66,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in St. Louis, Missouri, which will be operated by the company“s Precision Window Manufacturing subsidiary. According to the company, the new ThermoView 6000 windows will allow customers to benefit from the following product enhancements; a new contoured glazing bead which provides the appearance of colonial wood molding; contoured colonial grids, which improve appearance by eliminating the “boxy” look of traditional vinyl windows; a new balancing system, which enhances the ease of opening and closing the windows; a new window sill that collects less dirt/dust and is therefore easier to maintain; and new inside finishes, including “cherry woodgrain” and “medium oak”, which provide a richer, upscale appearance to room interiors. “One of our primary goals is to provide customers with product enhancements which can improve the user-friendliness and beauty of our windows,” stated Steve Hoffmann, chairman and CEO of ThermoView Industries, Inc. “Our acquisition of fourteen companies since April 1998 has positioned ThermoView to establish a national brand in the replacement window industry. A key element of our corporate branding strategy involves innovations in manufacturing and product design which will assure our customers that ThermoView windows are state-of-the-art when it comes to beauty, ease-of-use and energy conservation. The new St. Louis plant will allow us to incorporate a number of such product improvements into our flagship ThermoView 6000 window series.” “The production capacity of the St. Louis plant is approximately double that of the two plants it will replace,” noted Charles L. Smith, COO of the company. “This will allow us to supply a greater variety and volume of windows to our nationwide network of distribution subsidiaries in the future. In addition to new choices which will be available to our customers, ThermoView“s operating efficiencies should also benefit from the in-house design and quality control capabilities available at Precision“s new manufacturing facility.” The firm said it intends to pursue acquisition opportunities within the US$ 8 billion replacement window/door industry. The company“s common stock is traded on the American Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “THV.”
