At the International Builders“ Show in Las Vegas ,Owens Corning and Tembec disclosed 22 January 2003 that Tembec would manufacture and distribute the QuietZone framing system developed by Owens Corning. QuietZone framing is a patent-pending product specially designed to provide optimum noise control. According to Owens Corning and Tembec, the high fire and sound rating makes QuietZone framing excellent for use in residential property and hotels. Each framing piece combines two sections of wood connected by several acoustically resilient metal clips. These built-in clips create a break in the sound vibration path and allow the gypsum board facing the inside of the room to float and isolate sound waves from the rest of the building. QuietZone Framing is part of the Owens Corning QuietZone noise control system. The system includes various QuietZone acoustic products that, alone or as part of a system, will effectively reduce sound transmission through walls up to 80% or more when compared with uninsulated conventional wood stud walls. QuietZone Framing will be manufactured by Tembec and will be distributed by Jager Building Systems, a Tembec SGF Rexfor engineered wood products company.
