Finland“s Tamglass Engineering Oy will host the 5th international conference on architectural and automotive glass processing in Tampere, Finland from 13-15 September 1997. The safety glass community, architects, raw material suppliers, glass processors, glaziers, researchers, consultants and construction specialists are all invited to participate in Glass Processing Days, an exchange of experience and information on the latest developments in the sector. The aim of the conference is to broaden cooperation and to provide a forum for glass manufacturers, processors, universities, research institutions, glaziers and architects. The goal is to provide up-to-date information in a format which is technically and commercially useful for all participants. The organisers also aim to advance the market position of safety glass over other materials through the development of competitive processes and products for new applications. According to a statement by Jorma Vitkala, Chairman of the event, a number of short courses are being arranged in conjunction with this event which will provide an opportunity to obtain detailed information about glass itself, coating methods, the characteristics and use of coated glass, glass decoration (screen making, printing and ceramic paints), PVB (handling, characteristics and the laminating process), glass product design, different glass processing machines and operator parameters. These 3-4 hour courses will focus on one specific subject. Some courses will include both theoretical and practical components. A special application is required for these courses and the number of participants will be limited. Since the inception of Glass Processing Days in 1992, Tamglass Engineering, part of the Tamglass Group has been the principal sponsor. The group manufactures safety glass equipment in Scandinavia, central Europe and North America, and has customer service outlets in all major markets.
