After observing the promising business opportunities generated from the Chinese energy-saving market, Taiwan Glass Group has announced that it will invest USD 138 million to establish an energy-saving glass plant in Wuhan, Hubei province, China. The plant will have an annual capacity of 10 million tons of energy-saving glass, and will also be the group“s first investment in central China. According to chairman P.F. Lin, his group also plans to invest in another energy-saving plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park, Taiwan, adding that energy-awareness is rising in China. Taiwan Glass will build the Hubei plant on 500 to 600 acres in two phases, with an investment of USD 48 million in the first-phase and USD 90 million in the second. Taiwan Glass“ total annual sales amounted to USD 8.5 billion, with USD 4.5 billion from China and the remaining from Taiwan.
