29 April 1999: In mid-March, the Zachodni National Investment Fund of Poland signed a preliminary agreement to sell a 34.82% stake in Ujscie Glassworks (Wielkopolskie voivodship) to Szczakowa Glassworks (Slaskie voivodship). According to a recent report, the acquisition of Ujscie, Poland“s second largest supplier of glass packaging with a market share of some 30%, is another step towards Szczakowa building a glass manufacturing consortium. Szczakowa, which manufactures window panes, cut glass and hardened glass, is one of Poland“s leading glassworks. Since January, the majority shareholder in Szczakowa has been Dariusz Jasiczek, who bought 51% of the company“s shares for over Zl 2 million.
