The positive performance of Syrian Glass and Porcelain Industries in 2003 was a tribute to the successful implementation of management by objectives (MBO), the company said. The Damascus-based firm posted sales of SYP 783 million (USD 15.2 million/EUR 12.0 million) in 2003, compared to projected sales of SYP 753 million (USD 14.6 million/EUR 11.6 million) for the year, it was reported on 28 January 2004. The company expects its 2003 net profit to exceed SYP 100 million (USD 1.9 million/EUR 1.5 million). Syrian Glass and Porcelain Industries invested SYP 66 million (USD 1.3 million/EUR 1.0 million) during the year, implementing 97% of its investment plan. Output reached 52,000 tonnes of glass and porcelain, valued at a total SYP 786 million (USD 15.3 million/12.1 million EUR).
