Austrian cut crystal manufacturer Swarovski, announced at the beginning of November 2009 that it has decided to stop manufacturing in Lithuania after eight years ago, but did not comment the decision. The liquidation of Swarovski“s subsidiary, Crystal Creations, is expected to be finalized by December 2009. According to Matthias Neeff, director of corporate communication at D.Swarovski & Co., retail trade in jewellery will not undergo any changes after the suspension of the company“s operations in Lithuania. At present, Swarovski products are now being marketed by authorized traders in eight stores in the country. Neeff also said that the 39 employees of the company in Lithuania would receive compensations.
