The Stirom Bucuresti glass plant posted a 1H net profit of ROL 51.4 billion (some EUR 1.4 million) against ROL 20.4 billion for the same period in 2002, it was reported on 11 September 2003. The results came from improved manufacturing efficiency and product quality as well as on lower expenses per tonne of end product and an expanding domestic and foreign sales market. The main shareholder in Stirom is Mediterranean Glass Limited (MGL), which holds 50.9% of the company“s shares. Other investors include BerlinoInvestments Limited ( 9.2%), Windy Holding ( 9.1%), Gazon Holding Limited (7.4%) and Broadhurst Investments Limited ( 6.9%).
