On 23 September 1999, Stein Heurtey of France acquired 65% of the shares of British company Penelectro. Located close to Southend on Sea, at the mouth of the River Thames, Penelectro was established 40 years ago and became a leading supplier of electric melting furnaces and boosting systems to the glass industry. With turnover of Euros 40 million, Stein Heurtey is considered a leading supplier of furnaces to the glass industry worldwide. The French company said Penelectro“s arrival will broaden its product range.
