17 June 1999: US-based Southwall Technologies Inc. announced that Vahid Ghassemian has been appointed vice president of operations. Most recently, Ghassemian was the president of Nexgen Storage Technology, Inc., a start-up company in the field of high-performance data storage. From 1990 to 1997, Ghassemian was with Akashic Memories Corporation where, as vice president, Media Operations, he led the group to a significant improvement in yields and output. As chief operating officer at Akashic, he was also responsible for the on-time and on-budget startup of a new plant in Malaysia. Ghassemian“s previous experience is in management positions in operations and quality assurance. Southwall Technologies Inc. designs and produces thin film coatings that selectively absorb, reflect or transmit electromagnetic radiation. Southwall products are sold to the architectural, automotive and electronics markets.
