Emergency glazing repair and replacement company Solaglas Windowcare is opening new premises in south-west England, and plans to open more centres later in 2008. The company provides window and frame repair and replacement for direct insurers and intermediaries such as Royal Bank of Scotland Insurance, Fortis, Esure, Halifax, Groupama and Zurich. As part of aggressive UK growth plans, the company is about to open a centre in Bristol. The firm, owned by Saint-Gobain Glass, plans to open another six centres over the next 18 months. Managing director Ian Davy said: “The commercial insurance market is changing year on year. Where it used to be just shop-front windows it“s now a lot more architectural and high-spec glass, which can“t be repaired and replaced by a normal glazier”. He said the business is growing organically and is also considering a number of acquisitions involving small to medium-sized commercial glazing firms. Solaglas Windowcare recently strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Chris Furnell as its first head of information technology.
