The Donetsk region economic court has suspended proceedings on the bankruptcy of the Slovyansk Soda Plant, a court representative revealed to Ukrainian News. According to the representative, a law passed by Parliament last December forbidding the sale of debtor enterprises in which the state has more than a 25% share was the reason the proceedings were suspended. As Ukrainian News has reported, bankruptcy proceedings against the Slovyansk Soda Plant were initiated by the Slovyansk Tax Administration (Donetsk region). The enterprise“s debts to creditors amount to UAH 21 million; the Industrial Union of Donbass is the principal creditor. The factory discontinued production of caustic and baking soda and soda ash in 1999. In 2002, the factory stopped production of all other products.
