Poltar-based glassware producer Slovglass a.s. plans to reach sales of SKK 1.109 billion this year. Compared with 2001 this means an increase by 28%. The company plans to keep exports on 90% of total sales, said Irena Spodniakova, company economic director. Slovglass wants to further strengthen its position on markets in the United States, Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Canada. The launch of the production line machine-made lead crystal stemware should increase output by 22% when compared with 2001. Capital investments are projected at SKK 80 million and they will be used for increase of the labor productivity and environmental projects. The number of employees should remain stable at 1,647. Slovglass has production in three plants. In the Zlatno plant it manufactures hand-made soda-potash glass, in the Katarinska Huta plant there is specialization for manufacturing soda-potash machine-made glassware. The Poltar plant specializes in lead crystal glassware.
