Slovakia“s glass manufacturer Slovglass reached a gross profit of Kcs 39.8 million on revenues of Kcs 336.99 million in the first half of 1999, according to the company“s production director Lubomir Zan. Zan said that as much as 85% of the company“s production is exported and the value of the goods exported in the first half of 1999 reached Kcs 283.26 million. Nearly 50% of the company“s exports go to the US. Other foreign customers include Britain, Italy, Germany and Japan. In the first half of this year, the company exported goods valued at Kcs 17 million to the Czech Republic. The Veluris Glass Lucenec, with 33% of the company“s shares, is the biggest shareholder of Slovglass Poltar, while another 33% of its shares are controlled by the company“s management. The remaining shares are owned by the company“s employees. At present, the company employs about 1,430 people.
