According to Jan Mudry, general secretary of the Slovak Glass Industry Association, the country“s glassworks should report net profits for the year 2000 totalling Kc 500 million, compared to net profits of Kc 217 million for 1999. Mudry put year 2000 sales at Kc 7.1 billion, and said that exports accounted for 73% of the total. The performance of Slovak glassworks was positively influenced, he claimed, by the high quality of production, competitiveness in foreign markets, and the stability of the sector. Future investments include a new Kc 2 billion plant for LR Crystal Lednicke Rovne and a Kc 250 million investment in lead glass production at Skloglass Poltar.
