Glassmaker Sklo Bohemia Svetla nad Sazavou“s 1999 sales reached Kcs 990 million, according to preliminary unaudited results, around 4.7% more than last year when they amounted to Kcs 946.135 million, chief executive Oldrich Karas said. The company expects to have ended 1999 with a Kcs 5 million profit, against a Kcs 24.78 million loss in 1998. “We expect this year“s profit to range between Kcs 20 million and Kcs 25 million,” Karas said. Exports accounted for 77% of last year“s sales, heading mainly for the US, Great Britain, Spain, Japan and Italy. The company expects this year“s share of exports to grow to 82%, as sales to the US market will constitute around 28% of total exports, he added. Some 85% of the company“s total sales are generated by leaded crystal. The company plans investments of roughly Kcs 220 million this year. Sklo Bohemia“s share capital amounts to Kcs 549.96 million. The company, which employs 1,550 staff, was established in 1994. Bohemia Crystalex Trading and The Quartemanina Invest hold a combined stake of 51.12% there, and Fund B.V. has a 43.15% share.
