3 September 1998: Sklo Bohemia, the largest Czech producer of lead crystal, ended last year with an audited loss of Kcs 140.3 million, according to results adopted at the firm“s general meeting recently. In 1996, the company had a turnover of Kcs 4.7 million, the report said. Financial director Zdenek Cakl said the main cause of the loss was provisioning of Kcs 55 million. Operating profit was Kcs 276,000. Total sales rose 7% to Kcs 812 million last year. Sales of the company“s own products generated Kcs 742 million, up 6.6%. Exports represented 65% of the firm“s output and went mainly to Britain, Australia, Japan, the USA and Italy via the trading company Bohemia Crystal Trading (BCT).
