The March 1999 sale of a majority stake in the profitable Sklarny Bohemia (SB) glassworks of the Czech Republic, part of Lubomir Soudek“s company called NERo, is being investigated by lawyers and auditors, NERo bankruptcy administrator Petr Sikos said. Soudek is the former CEO of Skoda Plzen. Sikos says the contract on the SB sale contains suspicious and complicated methods of payment, which is why the bankruptcy administrator decided to investigate. The Plzen regional court filed bankruptcy proceedings against the NERo company last October. Sikos, who refused to reveal the name of SB“s purchaser or the price paid, says the glassworks was the profitable part of the bankrupt NERo company. According to a recent press report, SB was sold to an individual, rather than a corporate entity, but that SB“s statutory boards were replaced by representatives of the glass-porcelain group Porcela Plus (PP) in March. PP brings together several dozen glass and porcelain companies, including Kavalier glassworks, Crystalex, Kavalier-Glassexport, Bohemia Crystalex Trading, Ceske sklo, Sklo Bohemia, and Karlovarsky porcelain.
