Turkish glass and chemicals conglomerate Sisecam plans to invest a total of USD 750 million (EUR 666 million) by the end of 2005, said Alev Yaraman, the company“s flat glass group chairman, on 15 July 2003. Sisecam forecasts its turnover to reach USD 1.5 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) in 2005, compared to USD 1.2 billion (EUR 1.06 billion) in 2002 and its exports to increase to USD 600 million (EUR 532.8 million) in 2005, up from USD 500 million (EUR 444 million) in 2002. The company exports between 30% and 50% of its production. Sisecam has invested USD 35 million (EUR 31.1 million) in the modernisation of the second furnace at the Turkish glass manufacturer Trakya Cam, which is part of Sisecam, in Luleburgaz, nothwestern Turkey. Sisecam is the second ranked European glassmaker and third among world glass producers, Yaraman added.
