Serbia exported six million glass bottles for EUR 595,000, and imports totalled 30 million of bottles for EUR 1.21 million in 2001, director general of the Prokupac soft drinks and alcoholic beverages producer and dealer, Blazo Babic, said on 9 July 2002 at a meeting to discuss measures to keep production of glassmaker Srpska Fabrika Stakla (SFS) in Paracin, central Serbia. No comparative figures were available. The meeting was organized by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The Serbian Government will extend an undisclosed financial aid to SFS. A tender for the SFS privatisation will be opened by 1 December 2002, Serbian Privatisation Agency, which promotes, initiates, conducts and controls the privatization process, said. Brewer Apatinska Pivara, one of buyers of SFS bottles is expected to bid for SFS. SFC“s equipment has not been upgraded for the last 15 years, and waste stands at 35 pct of its output, SFS chief executive officer Slobodan Baletic said.
