Nitol Solar Ltd., the leading PV market player in Russia, has joined SEMI as a corporate member and member of PV Group. Nitol Solar is an international, vertically integrated company whose main business activities are scientific development and manufacture of products used to generate solar energy. Nitol“s current and envisaged product groups include the value chain from trichlorosilane to polycrystalline silicon and mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline silicon wafers. Production is based at the Nitol Solar factory at Usolie-Sibirskoe, Irkutsk region, Russia. Nitol“s products are sold to a range of international customers, principally in Europe and Southeastern Asia. Drawing on a 70-year heritage in the Russian chemical industry, Nitol Solar is currently developing a prominent position in the global solar industry. “Joining SEMI is a next step of cooperation between Nitol and SEMI association. SEMI membership will reinforce the development of Nitol Solar and the entire PV industry in Russia, and will invest into growing integration of the global PV societies,” said Dmitry Kotenko, CEO of Nitol Solar. Heinz Kundert, president of SEMI Europe/CIS, said, “Nitol Solar is the leading PV player in Russia, and their membership in SEMI marks the next step of integration of Russia into the global solar industry. Local R&D and industry potential, as well as the growing support from the State, create the basis for turning Russia into one of the leading members of the global PV industry – from the materials and devices to employing solar energy.”
