1 October 1998: Selas Corp. of America named chief financial officer and vice president Robert Ross as head of its global heat technology business as part of its restructuring plan. In addition, the maker of precision components and industrial heating equipment has split its heat technology operations into two product groups with both areas reporting to Robert Ross, it said in a statement. The two groups, related to large strip line projects and smaller furnaces and combustion equipment, would improve the company“s service to customers, it said. “By creating a more concentrated focus in each product area, we expect to improve our overall heat technology performance,” Selas President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Ryan said. The newly-appointed head of the heat technology business, which had 1997 sales of US$ 62.71 million, has been with the company since 1990 as vice president and treasurer. He will continue to retain his previous positions. Before Ross“s appointment, Ryan was in charge of the overall operations, including the heat technology business. Selas is a diversified firm with international operations and sales that engages in the design, development, engineering and manufacturing of a range of products including precision electronic components and assemblies, heat processing equipment and systems, and cable winch products.
