SDC Technologies Inc., a California-based global supplier of surface technologies, coatings and materials, announced 8 September 2004 that 100% of the company has been purchased by The Compass Group International LLC (The Compass Group) and the management team. SDC is a developer of proprietary coating systems for application to plastic and glass materials. SDC high performance coatings are used extensively in vision applications with end uses in the ophthalmic, sunglass and safety eyewear segments. No changes to SDC“s senior management team are planned as a part of the acquisition. “SDC is pleased to attract an investment partner of the caliber of The Compass Group. The company was formerly a joint venture between US chemical manufacturer Dow Corning Corporation and UK-based Pilkington plc.
