Dutch glass processing company Schott Pieterman BV in Oosterwolde, northern Netherlands, will close down with the loss of 85 jobs, it was reported on 1 April 2005. Schott Pieterman, formally known as Pieterman Glas BV, is being forced to close because its largest customers are moving their production to countries with lower labour costs. Schott Pieterman specialises in the manufacturing of glass products for microwave ovens and ovens by German household appliances makers Bosch, Siemens and Neff.
