German group Schott Glaswerke has announced that it intends to close its plant at Aumale in the Seine-Maritime department in Normandy, belonging to one of its subsidiaries, Socit Franaise d“Ampoules Mdicales (SFAM), in the early summer. The closure is part of the reorganization of its pharmaceutical containers business, which is to be centred on its plants at Casteljaloux (Lot-et-Garonne department) and at Pont-sur-Yonne (Yonne department). Under the plan, production of double-pointed ampoules is to be transferred to Casteljaloux, a plant which according to the management is more cost-effective, while production of ampoule bottles and of small bottles for perfume samples is to go to Pont-sur-Yonne.
