The German window manufacturer, Scheffer Fenster- und Fassadentechnik GmbH of Bautzen is targeting turnover of DM 27 million in 1997. Managing shareholder Heinz Scheffer said that in view of the difficult situation in the construction industry, the company could no longer expect to see the turnover increases of the last five years, in which it rose from DM 10 million to DM 25 million. Scheffer said that the Bautzen-based window manufacturer, which Scheffer Metallbau GmbH of Sassenberg acquired from Treuhandanstalt in 1992, had profited from very high demand in public and commercial buildings in eastern Germany and he expressed confidence for the company“s future, saying that he planned to cut current costs by 20% over the coming 18 months.
