Swedish Scanmodule based in Glava, Vrmland, and owned by Norwegian Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), announced the last week of September 2006 that it is planning to increase production. This increase, to take place before the end of 2008, will double production of solar modules, and increase production of solar cells fourfold. The company also expects to hire 18 more people within the next 18 months. Scanmodule started production of solar modules in 2003, and now employs 160 people. In August 2006, operations started at its new premises.
